GOAT SHOW

RULES

  1. Entry fee - $2.00 per class.

  2. Mail entries to: Janelle Ashley, 33 North Main Street, Whiting, VT 05778, Tel. 989-9528.

  3. Entries must be returned by Friday, July 30, 2022. Enter each class online at https://sites.google.com/view/acffdgoatshow/home

  4. Exhibitors must provide their own feed and bedding. Sawdust & straw is provided. All animals must arrive on the grounds and be checked for health, registration and class entries between noon and 9:00 p.m. on Monday before the fair. After check in, only scratches can be made. Animals must remain in the grounds until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. All animals must be removed by 10:00 a.m. Sunday after the fair. Exhibitors are responsible for taking down and stacking their own pens and cleaning their area.

  5. Barn Meeting for all exhibitors Tuesday, August 8th at 6:00 p.m. in the Show Tent.

HEALTH REGULATIONS:

  1. All goats must have health certificates and MUST be free of visual evidence of the following diseases: foot rot, sore mouth, pink-eye, and ringworm. Any sheep deemed to be unhealthy by the Judge or Show Superintendent will be barred from exhibition and showing. All goats must be vaccinated for rabies thirty (30) days prior to Monday before the fair and must have a certificate to verify the vaccination. All goats must have scrapie ear tag.
  2. The show will take place on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 12noon. Both youth and open exhibitors will be judged at the same time, awarded ribbons by place then open exhibitors will leave the ring and 4-H and other youth exhibitors will be awarded ribbons according to the danish system.
  3. Only registered goats may enter in the Open Show. Unregistered goats may be exhibited by 4-H and other youth.
  4. Exhibitors may show as many breeds as they can present well, but are limited to two entries per class in the open show and one entry per class in the 4-H and othe youth show.
  5. All goats must be presented appropriately according to breed standard.

CLASSES

Goats will be separated by Meat breeds, Milk breeds and Fiber breeds.

  1. Fitting and Showmanship: Youth exhibitors only are required to participate and must show their own, or a leased, animal. Exhibitors MUST be neatly attired in white button shirt/blouse and white, black, dark green or tan pants. This class will be divided into 4 groups: Senior (age 18-21); Intermediate (age 13-17), Junior (age 9-12); Novice (1st year, 8yrs). A PeeWee showmanship class for youth 5-7 years with a prize for each. Champion Buck

  2. Yearling Buck Class — (limited to youth 12 yrs of age and older-not to be shown in Fitting and Showmanship.) 1 yr of age, but under 2 years

  3. Senior Buck Class — born on or after September 1, 2018 and before January 1, 2019

  4. Junior Buck Class — born on or after January 1, 2019 Champion Doe

  5. Senior Doe—2 years and older

  6. Yearling Doe — 1 year of age, but under 2 years

  7. Senior Doe — born on or after September 1, 2018 and before January 1, 2019

  8. Junior Doe — born on or after January 1, 2019

  9. Exhibitor’s Flock — group to consist of one (1) Buck and two (2) Does owned by exhibitor and shown in classes

  10. Market Goat — Doe or wether goat less than one year

4-H and Other Youth Premiums: $9.00 = Blue, $7.00 = Red, and $4.00 = White

All premiums will be presented at the exhibitors meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The Superintendent reserves the right to withhold any premium or award to any exhibitor who has not adhered to the rules of the Goat Show. All exhibitors are expected to conduct themselves in a cooperative and respectful manner. The Superintendents reserve the right to ask an exhibitor to leave.
